BEHIND THE SONG:

When you’ve loved someone for a long time, you can think you’ve loved them as much as you possibly can. Then life throws some of the stuff life throws at us from time to time, and you realize they need you to love them more than you’ve ever loved them before.

And if you’re really lucky, when the time comes when you need to be loved more than you’ve ever been loved before, and that time will come, they will be there for you too.

Walking home from work one evening at my usual high rate of knots, a passing car’s loud stereo blasted out a catchy ska song. I didn’t recognize the song but realized my cadence was in perfect time with the song’s beat.

Then the words started coming into my head, matching the cadence of my stride.

I never knew that I could love you more than I’d ever loved you before..

I used my phone to record the lyrics and melody then worked out the chords on my guitar when I got home. The bass line followed soon after.

As always, Ed elevated the guitar part while guest musician, the very talented Jojo Roo Wrangler, brought some splendid and very fitting beats. During the mixing process, Ed sprinkled in some sparkly keys and a blistering guitar solo, and we were done.
